The Well Nest Gym

The Well Nest is your home for fitness in Ōākura, Taranaki.

We’re a studio gym with strength training and a variety of cardio equipment and recovery space. Community group classes, 1:1 and 2:1 personal training, and drop-in memberships available.

The gym is open for drop-in members 6am-7pm Mon-Sun (including public holidays).

TIMETABLE:

  • Drop-In Memberships: 6am – 7pm Mon to Sun (members receive a code to let themselves in during these times). Please keep noise levels down before 8am and the gym is not available during class times for drop-in use (join us for the class instead!).
  • Community Circuit Training Sessions: These are fun, friendly community-based circuit training sessions for everyone and every fitness level. They’re free for members and $15 for casuals. Note: These classes are on most weeks—be sure to follow our social media and gym noticeboard for updates: Facebook & Instagram. Drop-in use of the gym is unavailable during these times.
    • 5:20-6:10pm Tuesdays
    • 9:30-10:20am Fridays 

ABOUT THE GYM:

We’re a home-based fitness studio with the entire lower floor dedicated to The Well Nest. Think Airbnb style, but a gym and wellness space rather than a place to stay. One room is dedicated to strength and functional training and the other is our cardio studio.

Equipment:

  • 3x Olympic barbells (men’s 20kg & women’s 15kg), Trap Bar (30kg) & EZ Curl Bar (10kg)
  • Squat rack
  • Cable machine
  • Bench press
  • Glute bench
  • Free weights including kettlebells and dumbbells
  • Accessory strength including resistance bands, med balls, wall balls, and sandbags
  • Calisthenics equipment including multiple pull up bars and plyo box
  • Air bike
  • Ski erg
  • Treadmill
  • Rowing machine (Water Rower)
  • Spin bike
  • Hyrox-ready: with men’s and women’s weights for wall balls, farmer’s carries, lunges, plus ski erg and rower

Recovery:

  • Indoor Bathroom (with shower)
  • Outdoor shower
  • Spa pool 

MEET COACH HAYDEN:

Founder of The Well Nest Gym (and TempoFit), Hayden Shearman is a qualified Personal Trainer and Athletics NZ Accredited Running Coach. He’s been working in the fitness for more than a decade and has authored several books on running. 

His personal training includes weight loss goals, performance training for athletes, injury recovery, running technique & programming, and training for hybrid racing (like Hyrox). 

Hayden’s fitness philosophy is to make it fun, make it a habit, and make it lifelong.

PRICES: 

Check out our Opening Special for only $23pw for a 3-month commitment (or $45pw for a household)!

Includes drop-in membership, free PT session, free classes and no joining fee. For a limited time only. 

Standard Drop-In Memberships: Workout anytime from 6am-7pm Mon-Sun, plus 2x free group classes per week.

  • Drop-In: $25pw (high school students & Gold Card holders $20pw)
  • Family Drop-In: $50pw (for teenaged and adult household members) 

Weekend-Only Drop-In Memberships: Workout anytime 6am-7pm Sat & Sun (does not include classes).

  • Drop-In Weekend-Only: $15pw
  • Family Drop-In Weekend-Only: $29pw (for teenaged and adult household members) 

1:1 Personal Training Options (45-minute sessions with Hayden – these include free gym memberships for the weeks you have a PT session):

  • One-Off Single PT Session: $75 for 45 minutes (high school students & Gold Card holders $60)
  • 10-Session PT Package or weekly: $600 ($60 per session)
  • Kids 30-Minute Sessions: $40 per session (based around developing coordination, body awareness, skill & movement confidence—for 5-12 years)

Buddy & Team Personal Training Options (45-minute sessions with Hayden – these include free gym memberships for the weeks you have a PT session): Team up with a friend or three and be coached towards your fitness goals together. 

  • 2:1 PT Session: $40 each for 45 minutes ($35 each for 10 sessions package)
  • 3:1 PT Session: $35 each for 45 minutes ($30 each for 10 sessions package)

Packages:

  • Drop-In with Monthly 1-to-1: Drop-In Membership + 1x Personal Training Session every 4 weeks = $40 per week (4-week minimum)
